Educational Philosophy

Education is a social process. Education is growth. Education is not a preparation for life; education is life itself.

~ John Dewey

StoryCorps

Yesterday we went to the StoryCorps booth with Gram to interview her. We learned lots of nifty things about her and Papa but we mostly talked about the March on Washington. We learned that there were at least 250,000 people there and only 25% of them were white. We learned that the march actually started before it was supposed to because the crowd just started moving. We learned that many of the participants were old and felt strongly about standing up for what they believed in. We talked about the Civil Rights Act and jobs and equality and we talked about the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and the riots that happened after he was killed. It was really fun to learn these things from someone who was at the March on Washington.
