Educational Philosophy

Education is a social process. Education is growth. Education is not a preparation for life; education is life itself.

~ John Dewey

Trip to Hendersonville

Yesterday we traveled to Hendersonville for the NC Watercolor Society Annual Juried Art Show. The girls' watercolor instructor won this year so we thought it would be fun to see the show. There were some beautiful pieces there and some not so great ones, but it was fun to see the collection. Maybe one day the girls will enter their work. While there, we stopped in some art galleries and Kilwin's where the girls bought some fudge. Then, serendipitously we came upon a Mineral Museum. Since the girls are filling a gap from elementary/middle school by studying rock types this year, it was perfect. We learned about phosphorescent rocks, looked at a variety of fossils/rocks and then the girls broke open a geode. It was pretty cool!
